Kris' Corner - What to knit when you travel

I recently took a 3 week trip with my husband and I fretted over packing. Believe it or not it wasn’t about what clothes to take, but stress over what knitting project I would tuck in my bag to work on. I wanted to knit at the airport, on the plane, in the car while my husband was dealing with foreign traffic and even in cafes as I sipped my coffee. I didn’t want to pack a lot of yarn and didn’t want to knit something that would take up a lot of room as it progressed and grew. I didn’t want a complicated pattern that would require my full attention and where I would constantly have to check my notes or keep track of stitches and rows. Sounds like a tall order doesn’t it!!!! Well, with Jen’s help I decided on her wonderful “I Quilt Too Lap Blanket” that she designed for Trilogy Yarns' Advent Calendar 2020, available on Ravelry. It is perfect because you are knitting one 4”x 4” square at a time and the pattern is super easy to follow and memorize after knitting only a couple of squa...

Advent Calendar Making Party

We love Holiday Advent Calendars...but though up a new fun way to make them! In July we will have two get together where you can make your own advent (or bring your friends and make them for each other) and pick what goes inside each day. You will have your choice of mini skeins, fun notions and more! This way you can pick things you love, instead letting us do the picking (although we will have those for sale too!) Then, in November, the advent calendars will be available for pickup so you can count down to Christmas. If you are anything like us, it will be a complete surprise when you open them in December!!! Pick 12 days ($90) or 24 days ($170) Available Days/Times Friday, July 14th 6pm to 6:45pm Friday, July 14th 7pm to 7:45pm Friday, July 28th 6pm to 6:45pm Friday, July 28th 7pm to 7:45pm We can only comfortably fit 10 customers per session...but we are happy to add more sessions if there is demand! To sign-up you will be charged $90 deposit to attend. If you would like to reserv...

Hilde's Corner - Look at this blanket!!

Hello Everyone! I hope those who participated in the Yarn Crawl last weekend had a lot of fun. It was sure a lot of fun on our end. It’s fun to see so many happy, smiling faces! With warmer temps and sunnier days it is harder and harder to look at thick, woolen things to create. I know I start looking for smaller projects so I am not buried under a mountain of very warm wool! Socks are a big project for me in summer but let’s see what else I can find. I have to say the most interesting find for me was, believe it or not, a blanket! But it’s made in sections so you only ever have a small section to work on at any one time – no being buried under mountains of wool! Rainforest Bloom by Jenise Hope is an absolute stunner! It is available on Ravelry for about $6.24 and is knit up in worsted weight. I think using Uptown Worsted or Cotton Supreme would work great for this. You could knit up sections during the summer and then sew them all together in the fall in time for a snuggly blanket in...
