Tweens and Teens Love Knitwear

I really love working with Tweens and Teens. Theirs is a generation that needs to learn awesome hobbies like Knitting, Crochet, Sewing, Etc...or they will cease to exist! I also think they are so fun because they are like little crafting sponges AND obsessed with fashion. A perfect storm in my mind! I'm lucky enough to live in a neighborhood with the ultimate Tweens... Meet B & L They are WAY more up to date on fashion and trends than I am, they love fashion and both are adorable! I'm excited to design a few patterns designed for the trendy teens out there...and here is a little sneak peak. My hope is to not only design the patterns for them in mind...but make them simple knits so that they can knit them themselves!  Jen

But I haven't really ventured into the online community and forums...until now!!!! I'm having a lot of fun discovering all that Ravelry has to offer! So come join me in my little online clubhouse!!! http://www.ravelry.com/groups/a-little-knitty Jen

The low down on Uptown Worsted Yarn

When deciding what yarns I wanted to carry in the shop (and believe me, there are a TON) I really wanted to find a great acrylic workhorse that would work well for a beginner and be high quality enough for the more advanced knitter. I know I sometimes snub an acrylic, because I'll be the first to admit I'm a yarn snob...but Uptown Worsted by Univeral Yarn is absolutely great in a lot of applications! Recently I was gazing out at the yarn bomb I did outside the shop and I realized after months of being in the elements, it is still going strong (I don't think any of us expected this!) Not only is this a great yarn for children's hats or someone with wool allergies, it is AWESOME for yarn bombs! So, the next time you pick up a worsted weight yarn project, give Uptown Worsted a shot!!! You can get it in the shop and online! Go ahead....check it out... Untitled from Jen on Vimeo . Jen

Chemo Caps - Part 1

Today I'm introducing two (ok, just one...the other needed more tweaks) free knitting patterns to my collection on Ravelry and I would love for them to be used to make hats for chemo patients. The Karen Cap was created last year for my mom, as she started her battle with rain Cancer. One year nd 7 days ago doctors found a tumor in my mom's brain and it started a short lived battle that ended in her passing away 5 months later. During her battle I knit her 3 hats, but her favorite by far was this one, so I named it after her. In fact the last day I saw her we took a photo together and she was wearing this hat. All this to say, this hat is very special to me and I hope that it is shared with people who can use it! This hat was knit with CoBaSi Plus which I highly recommend for a beautiful breathable but soft hat! You can pick up the yarn in store or online . Jen
