Hilde's Corner - Hello again!

Hello Everyone!  I have been MIA for the past month, as Jen allowed me time off to be with my family as my daughter got married. We had lots of family come in, some coming from as far away as Norway. So getting the chance to hang out with them as much as possible was so very much appreciated. The wedding was beautiful, and I now have a new son-in-law, who we all adore.  I did, however, miss the shop a ton, and can’t wait to see everyone again! Please say hello when you stop in - I’d love to see you! So what have I been working on this past summer? Honestly, not much as it’s been a crazy busy summer. But Jen’s cruise to Alaska was amazing, and getting to visit so many yarn shops was so inspiring!! I don’t think it has to be said that all of us bought lots of yarn! (I highly recommend next year’s cruise - it has a crochet theme, but knitters are welcome, too. You’ll love being able to go to all the yarn shops in all the places, and have sit and stitch at sea, and all the things ...

Autumn in the air

I'm sure it's a little (or a lot) wishful thinking...but I'm SOOOOOOOOOO excited for Autumn to arrive. I want everything pumpkin (ya, I'm that girl) and I was to knit all the sweaters!!!!!! First on my "to do" list is to finish a sweater from last year (I'm on sleeve island!!!!) and then cast on a sweater for my youngest kiddo. When we were at Flock this last weekend they completely fell in love with the Traveler Sweater by Andrea Mowry. It was kinda cool that about 30 minutes after they fell in love with the sweater, Andrea spoke on stage. My kid thought that was pretty awesome! I haven't decided what fiber to use yet. I really want to use Patagonia because that would be what I would make it out of....but I don't trust the kids ability to launder it correctly! We shall see!!

Kris' Corner - Socks Will Travel

As summer moves into August I’m thinking about any last minute trips or excursions I can squeeze in before school begins and the days shorten.  Of course this always leads me to knitting or crochet projects that I can take on the run and aren’t cumbersome or hot on my lap. Socks fit that bill and are the perfect project for car rides, plane trips or days in the park or at the beach on a blanket with a picnic basket.   As I searched for some fun summer-themes socks these caught my eye: I love the hot pink, bright greens and black in these “One In A Melon Socks” by Katie Franceschi. These watermelon socks shout “summer” to me and would be so cute to wear with your Birkenstocks!  ALK has a large variety of Heritage sock yarn colors including a hot pink that would be perfect for this pattern.  Round it off with some mini skeins from Rainier Roses and you are set.  The pattern is $6.95 on Ravelry. Speaking of summer treats, check out these “Easy As Pie Socks Cu...

Slug Kits have been restocked...some with sparkles

When the designer showed me these slug sock kits, I said that is the most PNW thing I've ever seen....people will LOVE them! And boy was I right!! We sold through all of them...but they have now been restocked. We even received a couple sparkly sets...so your slug can look a little extra slimy!!!! And because it made me laugh...here is a photo of the sock designer...showing off her love of slugs! :)

Congratulations to our July 2025 FB Winners
