It's time to register for Fall classes at Auburn Parks & Rec in Auburn, Washington!! I wanted one go to place where students and potential students can check out what is being offered and click on links to register....so here ya go!!! Introduction to Knitting Class Summary Students will learn how to knit, cast on, bind off, purl and a few other beginning techniques so that you can tackle many patterns in this fun and relaxed class. Knitting needles, patterns and a ball of yarn included. Week 1 - Knit Stitch, you will begin working on a Garter Stitch dishcloth Week 2 - Binding Off, Casting on and Purling - You will bind off your first project and start your second, which is a Stockinette Stitch dishcloth with border. Week 3 - Yarn Overs and Knitting Two Together - You will finish off your second dishcloth and begin working on the third, Diagonal dishcloth. Week 4 - Wrapping it up - You will learn how to weave in ends, review pattern reading, discuss yarn weights an

I have mentioned it before, but we have a basket in the shop that is full of random yarns and scarves that have been started...we just need you to add your flare to the scarves! Yesterday, we had a couple sweet ladies stop into the shop and the basket caught the eye of one. She asked what it meant and was excited to try a few rows, and she convinced her friend to pick up the crochet scarf. They both said it had been forever since they knit or crochet, but very quickly (and with very little instruction from me) they were busy at work. It was so nice to visit with them...the best conversations are had when people craft together.  It's so heartwarming to see someone take a little bit of their day to do something kind for others. If you would like to stop in and knit or crochet a few rows, we would love your help! I usually grab my cell phone to snap pictures, but during the Sit-n-Stitch a couple weeks ago I grabbed my real camera and completely forgot to download the pics!! Katie from KaterTaterKnits  had us in stitches when she came to visit. She shared great information, got us started on our Totem Mitts (you can knit along with us...visit here for more information) and we sat around and did what crafters do best...chat and work on projects. Hi All! I have decided to tweak the hours a bit, as I have gotten to know customers and their needs, I have discovered Fridays in the summer are just not needed. So....Im going to continue with the Tuesday and Thursday schedule because they have been very successful, and in the fall we will add back in Friday (until 5pm, possibly later) and Saturday depending on demand. Saturdays I'm thinking of offering mini classes where you come in and make a project all in one session! And offering parties too...more to come on that later!
